Why did you even start this blog?

Ill tell ya why!

Last week Tuesday, June 11, 2024, my LinkedIn got hacked… along with numerous other accounts because my data was breached through the 3+ email accounts I have across my apps. (I am notorious in my family for getting my accounts hacked and getting charged, from Headspace subscriptions to Best buys orders, and Amazon gift cards)

I came back home from the gym bright early to see LinkedIn emails in Chinese, little old me thought these were phishing emails to get me to log in. I thought nah I’m smarter than that. Until I got my daily LinkedIn job alert emails where I have a flood of 5 different ones all coming in Chinese, so I hopped on my computer to check my account… Sure enough, everything was in Chinese, I went on my profile they took off my picture and my banner, and renamed the profile as Una Lin, a finance manager. Then I scrolled down to my posts to see that my latest post was my certification from the first coding boot camp I graduated from over 1 year ago. All of my 200+ posts about #100daysofcode and different projects I posted about were deleted.

I had done two rounds of #100daysofcode and was two days shy of finishing the second round! I messaged LinkedIn support and all they could do was send me to reset my password which I had already done when I realized I still had access to my account and the hacker never locked me out.

I posted about my frustration on LinkedIn, got a lot of support from my connections, and a fellow software engineer, Ryan Velasquez, suggested I create a blog instead!

This was divine timing because this week I’m starting buildspaces’s nights&weekends s5 cohort to turn an idea to reality.

So now I’m here creating this blog/newsletter for my third round of #100daysofcode and to write about all the things I find along the way in my coding journey with my apprenticeship, and share cool resources because I think everyone can learn to code or be apart of the tech space.

Thanks for reading my arc story!
